When is Celebration of Freedom?

Celebration of Freedom, proudly presented by Bayway Chevrolet, will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2025.  The park opens at 5:30 p.m. and the event ends at 10 p.m.

Where is the event located?

Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway.

What time does the program start?

The stage program will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

When do the fireworks start?

The fireworks show begins at 9:30 p.m.

Can I listen to the fireworks music if I'm outside of Independence Park? 

Yes! Download the Pyrocast app to hear the synchronized tunes during the fireworks show, no matter where you're watching from. The app is free and available on both Google Play and Apple.

Where do I park? How much does parking cost?

General Parking is free and located at Pearland High School, 3775 S. Main Street. Follow the pedestrian walkway signs towards Pearland Parkway to easily access the park.

From Pearland High School, proceed along pedestrian walkways (on either Oiler Driver or No Name Road from PHS Searcy Building) toward Pearland Parkway. Proceed north onto Pearland Parkway and enter through the main entrance at Independence Park.

Where is Handicapped Parking?

Accessible parking is located onsite at Independence Park, 3919 Liberty Drive. NOTE: This lot opens at 5:30 p.m. and vehicles must enter the park from Liberty Dr. Access from John Lizer Rd. due to the surrounding road's closures. Accessible parking will only be provided to vehicles with handicap placards and will be available on a first-come first-served basis.

From Friendswood: Take Broadway/FM 518 west to Liberty Drive. Turn left on Liberty Drive and proceed approximately 1 mile to the park entrance.

From SH 288: Take Broadway/FM 518 east approximately 9.5 miles to Liberty Drive. Turn right on Liberty Drive and proceed approximately 1 mile to the park entrance.

From Pearland Parkway: Take Broadway/FM 518 east 1 mile, towards Friendswood. Turn right on Liberty Drive.

Will there be shuttles?

Yes, complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available to and from Pearland High School parking lots from 5:30 - 11 p.m.

Is there a designated drop off location?

If you plan to drop off pedestrians, we recommend dropping them off at Pearland High School, on the Searcy side of the campus (3727 S. Main). 

Where can I pick up passengers during/after the event?

If you plan to pick up pedestrians, we recommend doing so at Pearland High School, on the Searcy side of the campus (3727 S. Main) . Vehicles will not be able to access the event site/park until surrounding roads have been reopened by Pearland Police at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Where are the road closures?

Pearland Parkway, from Oiler Drive to Magnolia Pkwy/John Lizer Road, will be closed promptly at 5:30 p.m. on July 4th. Additionally John Lizer Road, from Stacey Drive to Pearland Parkway, will be closed at 5:30 p.m. on July 4th. All roads will be reopened, by Pearland Police, no later than 10:30 p.m.

What should I bring to the event?

You, your family and your friends! And don’t forget a chair or blanket, sunscreen, and bug spray! Large tents, pop-up canopies, and oversized umbrellas are prohibited. Although you don’t have to spend any money at this event to have fun, you may also want to bring money for food, drinks or for purchasing items from the novelty vendor that will be on-site.

Can I bring a pop-up or shade canopy? 

No, guests are not permitted to bring pop-up tents, canopies, oversized umbrellas or any other shade structure that is meant to be staked or anchored to the ground. Hand held, personal umbrellas are allowed. 

Is there an ATM on site?

No. Cash and Credit Card will be accepted by all vendors. 

Can I bring a cooler with food and drinks?

Yes, outside food and beverages are allowed. Glass containers are prohibited.

Tailgating and barbecuing are not allowed inside the park or on Pearland ISD property. Don’t forget that we will have numerous food trucks join us to sell a variety of tasty treats for your convenience!

Can I bring my pet?

For the health and safety of all our guests and for the consideration of all pets, we ask that you please do not bring your pets (of course, service dogs in harness are welcome). As a reminder, the dog park at Independence Park will be closed all day on July 4 and will reopen the following day.

Can I drive my golf cart, utility vehicle, or other motorized vehicle (hover board, electric scooter, etc.) to the event?

No. For the safety of event guests, personal motorized vehicles, such as golf carts and utility vehicles are not allowed inside the park.

Can I bring non-motorized vehicles (bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, wagons, manual scooters)?

Of course! Non-motorized vehicles are permitted, and wheelchairs and strollers are always welcome.

Can I bring my own fireworks to the event?

No. The possession or use of fireworks within the city limits of the City of Pearland and the surrounding extraterritorial jurisdiction is prohibited by City Ordinance.

What emergency services will be available on site?

An ambulance will be available on site, as well as Pearland EMS bike patrol and Pearland PD bike patrol.

What do I do if I get separated from my child?

For the safety of our event participants, Lifepointe Fellowship is providing Tag Your Tot at two locations, near the tunnel walkway to the stage and in the Kids Zone, adjacent to the large pavilion. In the event a separation should occur please report to the Parks & Recreation Information Tent under the large pavilion. 

What if it rains?

If we experience rain during the event, staff may suggest that all attendees seek shelter whether in the park or by returning to your vehicle. Severe weather forecast will be monitored throughout the event be event staff. Weather related updates will be posted on the Pearland Parks & Recreation special event hotline at 281.412.8900, option 3, and on the Pearland Parks & Recreation Facebook page and Facebook Celebration of Freedom event page.

What should I bring in case it rains, but Celebration of Freedom is ongoing?

Please consider bringing the following items to stay warm and dry:

• Rain jacket with a hood
• Personal umbrellas
• Poncho
• Baseball cap
• Rain boots/other appropriate footwear
• Trash bags (for covering yourself in lieu of a poncho, backpacks and other items, to lay underneath blankets to prevent soaking)
• Tarp (for underneath blankets)

The following items are not allowed in the park:

• Large and/or stakeable umbrellas (such as Sportbrellas)
• Pop-up canopies and large tents

Where can I find Handicapped Parking?

Accessible parking is located onsite at Independence Park, 3919 Liberty Drive, on a first come first serve basis.

Accessible parking will open at 5:30 p.m. To access this lot, you must enter from Liberty Dr.

Directions: From FM 518 (Broadway), go south on Liberty Drive, pass Pearland City Hall Annex, and follow the signs straight ahead to enter the park. Vehicles entering here must display a handicap hanging placard or license plate.

Will there be an accessible seating area? 

Yes, we will have a wheelchair-accessible viewing area designated near the stage. This area operates on a first-come, first-served basis. To access, please go through the tunnel and look for the "Accessible Seating" signs to the right. 

Will there be accessible restrooms? 

Yes, the Independence Park restrooms, adjacent to the playground, are wheelchair accessible. Additionally, there will be two locations with accessible portable restrooms. These portable restrooms will be located near the flagpoles and next to the kids' activities/inflatables.

Are service animals allowed at the event?

Yes, service animals are welcome. Please ensure they are clearly identified and remain on a leash or harness at all times. 

Will there be assistance available for individuals with disabilities? 

Yes, our event staff will be available to assist. If you need help, please look for staff members wearing red staff shirts or visit the Information Booth, under the large pavilion.  

Are there accessible food and beverage options? 

Yes, food and beverage vendors will be in accessible areas. If you are in need of assistance, please notify a vendor or staff member.

How do I volunteer to work at the event and what is involved?

In addition to Parks & Recreation staff, we do depend on volunteers to make the event successful! If you are interested in volunteering and are above 16 years old, sign up here.
